Running and natures treadmill has lead me to some of the most beautiful sites.

Running has become more than just a form of exercise. Running has taken me to some of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen. In my short 3 years of running I’ve had the pleasure of traveling to different locations and enjoy nature in a way I never imagined. Destination races and destination trainings are the best! I call it runderlust!

RUNderlust (run-set-lust) n.The desire, craving, undeniable urge to explore the world while running.

When I think back to the last 3 years and the places I’ve been able to visit, it really puts into perspective the power of running. Through Ragnar Races, marathons, and trail running I’ve had the pleasure to explore. Destination races have become some of my favorite yearly memories, especially when I get to share them with my Running Locas.

Running has also allowed me to explore my city. Training runs through the beach path, training runs to our favorite murals (I’m a sucker for art on wall), training runs through our beautiful Long Beach, drawing out Easter bunnies, Yoda, and many other cool routes. When you are constantly marathon training you really get to know every corner, every mural, every Starbucks restroom very well haha.

Running the Ragnar Races have been some of my favorite memories because it has given me the opportunity to explore Huntington Beach to San Diego, Tahoe, Zion, and Colorado (Colorado being my favorite so far!). The CIM marathon has allowed me to experience winter in NorCal. Something we don’t see much of here in SoCal. Running through the beautiful country side of Folsom to the busy city of Sacramento. I will never forget running through Folsom and having a rooster cheer us on. Of course I can’t forget about the LA marathon, which allowed me to run from one of my all time favorite places, The Dodgers Stadium (Go Dodgers!). The eye catches so much more when you are out there, when you are one with nature. There’s just something about knowing every step you take, is a step in nature’s treadmill.

Unfortunately this year I haven’t been able to explore as much as I would like. But I know natures treadmill has many more miles for me. I am hoping after COVID I can get back to racing and get to traveling and racing. New York and Washington we have a pending date! Eventually, I would like to complete El Maratón Internacional de la Ciudad de México and the Honolulu Marathon. For now running for fun and hitting different locations on Saturday morning with my Running Locas will do. Catch you all on the flip side! 🏃🏽‍♀️

Hasta luego, Jackie Luna
